maine this past weekend. these windmade snowmen made me smile when i met them. though, they almost look like clouds getting ready to float off into the sky.
mont tremblant, canada. truly one of the prettier mountains i've ever had the pleasure of sliding down. our theme of the new year's week was girl talk: all day. for whatever reason we all really took to the track that opens with the sample of pretty boy swag ("track 7: get it get it"). few more snaps here...
it's 22* and dark out. it's only 6pm. have not finished any sorts of gift shopping. threw my full coffee cup on the floor as i walked in the door. (it exploded, i swear!) need to study too. stress much? never! wrapped up with some text books, candles blaring and "dark sedan" by karl blau looping. the image it paints is so calming. and how can you not love lines like these? :
"i musta forgot how the night was coming, acoustic guitar, politely strumming/ packed up strings it takes two thumbing, a dark sedan pulls up on the shoulder / on the highway feeling low...."
grab mp3 at pitchfork, watch video on youtube. (seriously take a listen!)
this past saturday, santa came to town and i have the photos to prove it, check em out...
"yeah you're great, you're just part of this lifetime of dreaming
that extends to the heart of this long summer feeling
all the history of wars i invent in my head
little lou, ugly jack, prophet john
what a waste, i could've been your lover. what a waste, i could've been your friend. "
little lou, ugly jack, prophet john - belle and sebatian featuring norah jones.
wonderful. feeling pretty introspective today. like the mood of this song. lyrics are beautiful.
it smells like snow. little too warm out for that though... probably more bone chilling rain. on a more exciting note just took a listen to some new stuff from cage the elephant. i didn't recognize them at first - slightly different direction from their last album? can't put a finger on what but something just feels different, and i really like it. the new album is coming out in january and i simply cannot wait to hear more.
1. i'm blowing up dee's spot. she made a wonderful dinner friday night for pom wonderful. i don't think she wrote about this yet BUT LOOK AT THESE BROWNIES! it's an amazing chocolateness, topped with homemade pomegranate ice cream, homemade pomegranate delicious sauce (so-so-so good!), and pomegranate seeds! blew.my.mind. think she's going to post the recipe later this week.
2. it was seventy degrees out on saturday! how awesome is that?
3. i went to see the baby of the family swim in her college swim meet this weekend. our parents came and my mother handed me a tupper-ware of MOM MADE vegetable soup. i ate it all before i took a picture though.
