we hiked a little mountain backwards this weekend. drove to the top, hiked down then back up. simply not as rewarding. i also looked through the quarter binoculars for the first time ever. got to spy on some pretty cool boats on the nearby lake. happy (belated) summer solstice!

i think i've listened to YACHT's newish song- dystopia (the earth is on fire) 25 times today. little obsession. it's so catchy and i like the images the lyrics are painting in my head. inspired some thoughts too. anyway, quite excited to hear the rest of the album in the end of june.

mont tremblant, canada. truly one of the prettier mountains i've ever had the pleasure of sliding down. our theme of the new year's week was girl talk: all day. for whatever reason we all really took to the track that opens with the sample of pretty boy swag ("track 7: get it get it"). few more snaps here...

wonderful snowy night last night. creeped a little on the house windows. great time seeing the whole extended family this weekend.

ps there's also some new bright eyes out, sounds kind of like more of the same but i'm still syked. can trade your email address for the new song.

  

santa claus

it's 22* and dark out. it's only 6pm. have not finished any sorts of gift shopping. threw my full coffee cup on the floor as i walked in the door. (it exploded, i swear!) need to study too. stress much? never! wrapped up with some text books, candles blaring and "dark sedan" by karl blau looping. the image it paints is so calming. and how can you not love lines like these? :

it smells like snow. little too warm out for that though... probably more bone chilling rain. on a more exciting note just took a listen to some new stuff from cage the elephant. i didn't recognize them at first - slightly different direction from their last album? can't put a finger on what but something just feels different, and i really like it. the new album is coming out in january and i simply cannot wait to hear more.

things that made me happy this weekend

1. i'm blowing up dee's spot. she made a wonderful dinner friday night for pom wonderful. i don't think she wrote about this yet BUT LOOK AT THESE BROWNIES! it's an amazing chocolateness, topped with homemade pomegranate ice cream, homemade pomegranate delicious sauce (so-so-so good!), and pomegranate seeds! blew.my.mind. think she's going to post the recipe later this week.

2. it was seventy degrees out on saturday! how awesome is that?

3. i went to see the baby of the family swim in her college swim meet this weekend. our parents came and my mother handed me a tupper-ware of MOM MADE vegetable soup. i ate it all before i took a picture though.

new low

it's about 70 degrees out today and the sun is shining. after 4 days of living in hazy, cold and heavy gloom, this showing of sun could not be more welcomed. i spent my lunch break today absorbing as much sunshine as i could in the park. here's to a good long run this evening.

also, middle class rut has a song "new low" that has been making the rounds on the radio lately, and i love it. the video happens to be captivating.

a lovely bag of mallow pumpkins were waiting on my desk for me when i got in yesterday. did you know they're made with real honey? i didn't...

apparently i was dreaming when the current temperature was announced this morning because i was utterly shocked when i left the apartment with only a flannel shirt for warmth. there was ice still on my car. happy first frost! (thank god the day time temps are still in the sixties)
